A Beautifully Colorful and Storytelling Cotton Towel

In Japan, with its rich seasonal changes, a unique aesthetic has been cultivated since ancient times by integrating the colors of nature into clothing. Hirali reinterprets this color culture, known as “Kasane no Irome” (the layering of colors), and brings it to life through front-and-back color combinations inspired by Japan’s “kigo” (seasonal words).
For instance, a color pattern inspired by the spring kigo “Kaze Hikaru” (the shining wind) features shades that evoke a refreshing breeze and bright sunlight dancing joyfully. The design incorporates the beloved traditional windmill motif, cherished by generations.
In autumn, the kigo “Aki no Mizu” (autumn water) captures the clarity of water during the season, reflecting the serene colors of nature found in the autumn mountains. This pattern utilizes a design called “Tate Waku Mon,” which symbolizes rising steam.
There are over 30 variations of these designs, with an additional 4 to 6 new patterns released each year, making it a popular choice for collectors who enjoy gathering different styles.
The patterns draw from traditional Japanese designs, while the colors reflect classic Japanese hues, resulting in a tranquil overall impression. Yet, the refined designs also shine with individuality, making them a striking accent for fashion. The fabric is crafted from carefully selected materials that are highly absorbent and soft to the touch, becoming even softer with use, offering a fluffy and gentle texture to enjoy.
